Sensory Dissection
Flavor
Bai Mu Dan
Bai Mu Dan is a white tea made from buds and the top two leaves, withered and dried with minimal handling. The cup is soft and mellow with gentle honey sweetness, mild floral notes, and a faint autumn-leaf earthiness. It is forgiving to brew and more affordable than Silver Needle, making it a common entry point into white tea.
Yue Guang Bai
Yue Guang Bai, or Moonlight White, is a Yunnan tea named for the silvery-dark contrast of its leaves — one side dark, one side pale — said to be withered under moonlight. The cup is smooth and honeyed with notes of dried apricot, gentle florals, and a lingering sweet finish. It drinks somewhere between a white tea and a very light young sheng, with more body and fruit than typical Fujian whites.
